As Jerry month winds down I just had to hear this gorgeous song one more time, and thanx to the wonders of the Archive, I found a twofer!

Take 1 is very much a 'rehearsal', interesting to hear Jer directing Vince, esp when he says 'I haven't played this one much on guitar'. So I guess he wrote it on piano, like most of his fine 1st solo album.

Take 2 is absolutely nails. Beautiful, haunting, spectacular, and Jerry in fine throat. Every lyric in its place.Gotta give it up for Hunter too. If the first lyric he wrote for this band was verse 1 of Dark Star and the last was this beauty, "polished like a golden bowl, the finest ever seen" that's some nice wordsmithing indeed.
Peace

in truth, i probably would have shuddered if hearing that song in a live setting, however, that 2nd studio take i admit is fairly touching, not the music itself which is blah, but Jer's vocals, despite the ragged edges, are quite moving
